It would seem that we have a bald-eagle couple in my hometown. Wildlife experts say they must be young (otherwise they would have known better than to build their nest here--we can't even pass a school levy, what the heck do we have to offer a couple of national symbols of freedom?).
Nonetheless they are here. And the nest is not too far from where my wife works. There are signs up warning that it's a federal offense to get too close and all that. I have never been so close to eagles (other than in zoos) and this is just pretty freakin' cool.
I will probably try to get some video footage of them, if my telephoto lens affords me some good shots.

That nest, by the way, is huge. You can't get a sense of it from the picture, but you can see it fairly plainly from 100yds away.
Eagles are cool.
